Why Lightweight Instead of Cast Stone?
Traditional cast stone is a high-density cementitious product, and its handling, support and fixing requirements depend on unit size, weight and application. Taylormade lightweight mouldings use a lightweight core finished with the approved polymer-modified coating system to reproduce classical detailing such as cornice profiles, coping stones, quoins, window cills and string bands at significantly reduced unit weight.
Reduced unit weight means many profiles can be handled without heavy lifting plant, subject to profile size, access and site manual-handling requirements. The lightweight format can provide greater flexibility when planning installation alongside other trades.
Standard and Bespoke Profiles From Your Drawings
Projects can use our standard profile families, adapted standard sizes or fully bespoke profiles developed from GA drawings and section details, with junctions and returns coordinated before manufacture. Profiles are produced in-house using CNC hot-wire cutting at our Aberdare facility to support dimensional accuracy and consistency across a scheme.
Where Lightweight Stone Mouldings Are Used
We supply architects, main contractors and residential developers across residential, commercial and self-build projects. Supply-only orders are delivered across the UK and to Ireland, Jersey and Guernsey. Supply and install is available where agreed in our quotation.
Common Questions
Does lightweight stone look different from real cast stone?
The finished appearance depends on the decorative coating and colour specified rather than the core itself. Taylormade mouldings imitate real stone, finished either in a textured stone-effect finish or a smooth painted finish with the look of Portland stone, subject to the agreed project specification.
