EPS Architectural Mouldings, Engineered From Your Drawings

Precision-engineered EPS (expanded polystyrene) mouldings, manufactured in-house in Wales and factory finished using an approved VPI polymer-modified coating system for a durable, render-ready facade profile.

What Are EPS Architectural Mouldings?

EPS architectural mouldings use an expanded polystyrene core to form the shape of a facade profile — cornice, coping, cills and other decorative or functional detailing — which is then finished with a protective VPI polymer-modified basecoat before render or facing material is applied. The EPS core is what makes the finished profile significantly lighter than traditional cast stone or masonry detailing, while the basecoat and render finish give the same appearance and weather protection as the traditional materials it replaces.

At Taylormade Facades, EPS profiles are manufactured in-house at our facility in Aberdare, Wales, using CNC routing for dimensional accuracy and consistency across every profile in a scheme. We've worked in the facade and rendering sector since 2003.

Why Choose EPS Over Traditional Cast Stone

Because EPS profiles are lightweight, they don't need a crane or mechanical lifting to install, and they carry significantly reduced dead load compared with traditional cast-stone and precast architectural features. This means they can typically be installed later in the build programme without holding up other trades, and without the site handling risk associated with heavy cast stone units.

Engineered From Your Drawings

Rather than choosing from a fixed catalogue, we develop EPS profiles directly from your GA drawings, elevations and section details. Junctions, returns and terminations are resolved before manufacture. Profiles are designed for integration with approved external render and façade systems — VPI is our preferred coating/render system, with compatibility confirmed at technical-submittal stage to suit the specified substrate, coating build-up and finish.

Common Questions

Is EPS as durable as cast stone?

The finished, coated profile is designed to perform in the same way as traditional render systems used across the UK for decades — the EPS core affects weight and installation, not the protective finish.

Can EPS mouldings be used on commercial projects?

Yes — we supply architects, main contractors and residential developers on both residential and commercial schemes.
